We are currently recruiting Welsh freelance translators, who can help to meet our clients’ needs.

What we expect from our linguists
Essential Skills
- A fluent (native) understanding of at least one foreign language.
- Excellent writing skills and command of grammar both in your mother tongue and English.
- Native fluency in target and source languages – spoken and written subject matter knowledge specific to the content provided.
- Knowledge of CAT tools.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Time management skills and ability to work quickly to meet deadlines.
- The ability to use initiative and have self-motivation.
Desirable Skills
- A solid understanding and in-depth knowledge of language/country-specific cultures usually gained by living and working there for a prolonged period of time.
- An academic degree in the source language or in another subject which could lead to a specialist subject area.
- Living, studying, or working in a bilingual environment or working in language industry
- Proficiency in the use of a range of computer packages - knowledge of translation-oriented applications and software is helpful.
- Enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge.
Qualifications, Experience and Memberships
At least one of the following plus relevant experience (with documented evidence)
- A recognized graduate qualification in translation from an institution of higher education;
- A recognized graduate qualification in any other field from an institution of higher education plus two years of full-time professional experience in translating
- Five years of full-time professional experience in translating
- CIOL Qualifications Level 7 Diploma in Translation (DipTrans), (DPI level 4&5 in translation for rare languages)
- CIOL Level 6 Certificate in Translation (CertTrans)
- Full membership of a renowned translation institution (ITI, CIOL, for example)
You must be also able to provide:
- Evidence that you are eligible to work in the UK (if UK based)
- Provide a valid DBS certificate (or be willing to apply for one)
- 2 Professional References
- Agree to provide test translation free of charge
