Contract Overview:


We are looking for skilled and detail-oriented English<>English Transcribers. The successful candidate will be responsible for transcribing audio and video recordings, including multi-speaker interviews into accurate, well-formatted written text.


You will need fluency in English to mother-tongue standard, good listening skills, familiarity with a broad range of UK dialects and international accents, excellent grammar and spelling, and the ability to work to deadlines. You should have access to a password-protected PC with up-to-date anti-virus software, transcription software, foot pedal and high-quality headphones.



Key Responsibilities:


Transcribe recorded media from a variety of sources into written text across various industries.


The media includes, but is not limited to:

Audio files (electronic)

Video files

CD’s

Cloud Based Storage


  • Editing and Proofreading: Proofread and check all transcriptions for spelling, grammar, formatting, presentation and sense.
  • Adherence to Guidelines: Create all documents in line with templates, formatting and style requirements as provided by clients.
  • Proactively clarify instructions should they be unclear or if deadlines are not made explicit; providing updates as to progress of work and/or ability to meet deadline.
  • Time Management: Ensure transcriptions are turned around within agreed deadlines and timeframes
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data in compliance with GDPR.


Key Skills and Requirements:


Essential:

  • Native English Speaker or an equivalent English language proficiency of IELTS 7 or higher.
  • Audio typing experience with typing speed of 40-80 words per minute with an accuracy rate of 98%.
  • Excellent listening skills and ability to transcribe a range of accents and dialects.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in transcription
  • Proficiency with transcription tools, software, and word processing platforms (e.g., Microsoft Word).
  • Excellent organisational and time-management to deliver high-quality transcriptions within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to focus on one task for long periods of time
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure error-free transcripts.
  • Excellent command of written English, including spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments with different deadlines.
  • Formal training in transcription.
  • Experience in specialised transcription (legal, medical, general or corporate)


Desirable:

  • Membership in the British Institute of Verbatim Reporters (BIVR) or The Association for Court Reporters and Captioners (NRCA).
  • Knowledge of software to enhance audio quality, such as reducing background noise.


Candidates must be also able to provide:

  • Provide a valid DBS certificate (or be willing to apply for one if UK based) or Police Check Certificate (non-UK)
  • 2 Professional References
  • Agree to provide test transcription free of charge
